Coyote Therapy: The Healing Power of Story (June 3-6, 2010)

The truth about stories is that that’s all we are – Thomas King

How do we forge a new way of healing that combines the wisdom of Native American healers with the best of contemporary medicine and alternative healing?

The concept of story is one powerful method. Native elders tell us that we are the collection of all the stories that have ever been told about ourselves. We store the details of our lives as stories and perform these stories as plots that involve all the people in our lives. Illnesses make sense within the stories that we are living and these stories are crucial guides for healing our illnesses. Traditional healers work in part through transforming the story. They tell inspirational stories to let us know that we can change. They tell stories about overcoming hardship. Together they help us to revise and re-author the story we are living in our communities into stories that are more conducive to health and wellbeing.

In this workshop, join Lewis Mehl-Madrona in experiencing and practicing the use of story to spark transformation and healing with individuals, families, groups and communities.
